Jeremy grew up in Spokane, Washington; but was kicked out of his home for stealing and truancy. This began a downward spiral of depression, drug abuse and living on the streets. He finally ended up in Fort Worth, where he remained homeless and sometimes ate out of trashcans.

In 2008, he began attending church services at Church Without Walls which also operates The Hope Center. The Hope Center ministers to the poor and helps them get on their feet. Jeremy offered to teach a math class for GED students. The Director, JoAnn Reyes, was skeptical but gave him a shot. The math aptitude test she gave him revealed that he has an incredible talent for math and a genius level IQ. With JoAnn’s support and nurturing hand, he began teaching the GED class and also a budding life of Christian faith.

With lots of hard work, and faith in God, Jeremy has completely turned his life around. He is now a student at Texas Wesleyan University and is maintaining a 4.0 GPA with an 18 hour course load. His goal is to become a full-time math teacher. He also tutors at the university and sometimes teaches Sunday school.

Update on Jeremy from the Texas Wesleyan Flame April 2012 Issue below:
